The Power of One is an influential film made in 1992, it is set during the thirties and forties in South Africa. PK who is the main character is brought up in rural South Africa by his British born widowed mother and his African Zulu Nanny whose son Tonderai is his best friend.
The main themes in this movie is power, depression, self realisation, discrimination, leadership and courage. PK suffers a hard life, where he is sent to a African boarding school, here he is bullied as he is the only English boy. Throughout the movie he loses many people close to him including his mother, chicken, many of his friends and his girlfriend.
This movie made me realise how bad racism is around the world and how many people are treated unequally. It is a good film that shows reality back in the 1930's- 40's.
